The Restoration

This W108 250S came to us from an estate in central Florida, where it had sat under a carport for the better part of fifteen years. The DB 542 Dark Red paint had faded considerably but the body was remarkably straight, with no evidence of prior collision repair. The floors and trunk showed moderate rust from moisture exposure but the main structural members were sound.

Disassembly revealed an engine that had been well maintained before the vehicle was parked. The M108 2.5-liter inline-six is being rebuilt with new pistons, bearings, and a reground camshaft. The Solex carburetors are being fully overhauled. The four-speed manual transmission -- an uncommon specification for this model -- required new synchros and input shaft bearings.

The body has been stripped to bare metal and all corroded sections replaced with new steel. Panel alignment and gap consistency are being set before the vehicle moves to our spray booth for refinishing in the original DB 542 Dark Red. The black MB-Tex interior will be replaced with correct-specification material sourced from Germany. This restoration is currently in progress in our Jacksonville workshop.
